Beth Mardutho hired a fine third-party specialist to help in the production of these fonts, and to ensure that the fonts are top quality. The specialist created the fonts from artwork, edited every little detail of each font, and did hinting (the process of making the fonts readable at small size). The costs of this part of the project is covered by donations. There is still much work for us to do:

• For the current fonts, create light, bold, shadow, italic and outline versions
• Produce more fonts from manuscripts representing the various historical stages of Syriac calligraphy
• Design Syriac ornamental fonts which can be used to create borders and graphs
• Make the fonts available on the Mac and Unix platforms
